The Content Settings page is where portal administrators manage the core information and visuals displayed to users on their portal - including the welcome message, homepage background image, headline, About Us section, contact details, social media links, and site banner.
This article covers the following topics:
2. How to configure your unique content
2.1 How to access content settings
2.3.1 Option A: Select from B-Portal Image Library
2.3.2 Option B: Upload Your Own Image
2.3.3 Option C: Generate with AI
2.6.2 Social Media Links (Optional)
1. Pre-Requisites
Before using the Content Settings page, the following areas of the platform must be configured or understood. These areas directly interact with the content settings you will manage here.
| Area | Why It Matters |
| Portal Creation | The portal must have been created successfully before you can access or configure its content. |
| Publishing Flow | Content is only made visible to the end users after publishing is completed. |
2. How to configure your unique content
2.1 How to access content settings
- Click Editor
- Then click Content
The Content Settings page presents all configuration sections in a single view. Changes to certain elements update a live preview instantly. The following elements support real-time preview:
- Background image
- Homepage headline
- Welcome message
- About Us selection
All other fields (contact details, social media links, and Site Banner) are configured and saved without a live preview component.
2.2 Welcome Message
The welcome message is a short piece of text displayed to users when they visit your portal. It sets the tone for their experience and is one of the first things they will read.
| Property | Detail |
| Field type | Single-line text input |
| Maximum length | 120 characters |
| HTML allowed | No |
| Language | English (default); language selector is present but disabled |
2.3 Homepage Background Image
The homepage background image is the primary visual that users see when they land on your portal.
Only one image can be active at a time so selecting or activating a new image always replaces the current one. There are three ways to set this image, each suited to different needs.
2.3.1 Option A: Select from B-Portal Image Library
The image library provides a curated set of images you can use without needing to source or upload your own.
To use the image library:
- Click the B-Portal Image Library option to open the image library modal.
- Browse the available images.
- Select one image to set it as your homepage background by using the radio buttons
- The preview will update instantly.
2.3.2 Option B: Upload Your Own Image
If you have your own images, you can upload them directly. The following rules and limits apply:
| Property | Detail |
| Maximum uploaded images | 5 |
| Supported formats | JPG, PNG, WEBP |
| Maximum file size | 1MB per image |
| Recommended resolution | 1920×1080 |
To upload and set an image:
- Click the Upload your own option
- Click Upload an image and select a file from your device.
- Once uploaded, the image will appear in your uploaded images list.
- Select the image by clicking the radio button to set it as the active background.
- To remove an image, click the trash can icon next to it.
2.3.3 Option C: Generate with AI
If you do not have a suitable image, you can generate one using an AI image generation tool built into the platform. This is particularly useful for creating contextually appropriate backgrounds without needing design resources.
AI Prompt Field:
| Property | Detail |
| Field type | Multi-line text area |
| Example prompt | Luxury beachfront resort at sunset with palm trees |
Quick Style Tags (multi-select):
You can also select one or more preset style tags to guide the generation.
To generate an image:
- Select Generate with AI as your image source.
- Enter a descriptive prompt in the AI Prompt field and/or select one or more Quick Style Tags.
- Click Generate image
- The system will call the AWS image generation service and display the result.
- Select the generated image using its radio button to set it as the active background.
- If you are not satisfied, click Generate image again to create a new image.
Important limits for AI-generated images:
- You can generate up to 5 images per month. The page displays a counter showing how many generations you have used (e.g. 3/5 used).
- Once the monthly limit is reached, generating a new image will automatically replace the oldest generated image in your Recent results.
- The AI generation monthly limit is separate from the 5-image upload storage limit.
2.4 Homepage Headline
The homepage headline is a short, prominent piece of text displayed on your portal's homepage, typically overlaid on or near the background image. It is one of the most visible pieces of content on your portal, so it should be clear and impactful.
| Property | Detail |
| Field type | Single-line text input |
| Maximum length | 50 characters |
| HTML allowed | No |
| Language | English (default); language dropdown is present but disabled |
2.5 About Us Section
The About Us section gives you control over whether and how your portal presents information about your organisation. There are three options, and you must choose one.
2.5.1 Link to External Site
If your organisation already has an About Us page hosted elsewhere, you can link to it directly rather than creating new content.
When this option is selected, a URL field appears. The following validation rules apply:
| Rule | Detail |
| Must start with | https:// |
| Must be a valid URL format | Yes |
| Maximum length | 255 characters |
| Invalid format error | "Invalid URL" displayed on the field |
2.5.2 Create Your Own
If you want to write your About Us content directly within the portal editor, select this option. A rich text editor will appear, giving you formatting tools to create structured, readable content.
Supported formatting options:
| Formatting Option | Description |
| Bold | Emphasise important words or phrases |
| Italic | Add stylistic emphasis or denote titles |
| Underline | Underline specific text |
| Bullet list | Present unordered items |
| Numbered list | Present ordered or sequential items |
| Hyperlink insertion | Insert clickable links within the text |
Content created here is saved per portal and does not affect any other portal.
2.6 Contact Pages
2.6.1 Contact Us Details
The Contact Us section allows you to provide users with direct contact information. Both fields are optional but recommended, as they give users a way to reach your team.
| Field | Validation Rules |
| Must be a valid email format; maximum 100 characters; no input permitted beyond 100 characters | |
| Phone Number | Numeric only; hyphens (-), brackets (), and spaces are allowed; maximum 20 characters |
2.6.2 Social Media Links (Optional)
You can add links to your organisation's social media profiles. All social media fields are optional. The following platforms are supported:
| Platform | Required Domain in URL |
| Must contain linkedin.com | |
| Must contain pinterest.com | |
| Must contain facebook.com | |
| YouTube | Must contain youtube.com |
| Must contain instagram.com | |
| TikTok | Must contain tiktok.com |
| X.com | Must contain x.com or twitter.com |
For all social media links, the following validation rules apply:
- Must start with https://
- Must contain the correct domain name for the selected platform
- Maximum 255 characters
- If an invalid URL is entered, an error message will be displayed
Tip: Domain validation is in place to prevent accidental mismatches — for example, entering a Facebook URL in the LinkedIn field. Always double-check that you are pasting the correct profile URL into the correct platform field.
2.7 Site Banner
The Site Banner allows you to display a short, dismissible announcement message across all pages of your portal frontend. It is managed from the Content Settings page and controlled by a message field and an enable toggle.
| Property | Detail |
| Banner message | Alphanumeric characters only; maximum 120 characters |
| Enable toggle | Checkbox. When checked, the banner is active and visible to all portal users. When unchecked, the banner is hidden. |
Banner behaviour on the portal:
- When enabled, the banner is displayed on all pages of the portal.
- A portal user can dismiss (close) the banner. Once dismissed, it will not reappear during the same browser session.
- Navigating to a new page within the portal before dismissing still shows the banner.
- Refreshing the page causes the banner to reappear even if previously dismissed in the same session.
2.8 Saving Your Content Configuration
Once you are satisfied with your content configuration, you need to save it to persist your changes. Saving stores the configuration against the current portal only and does not affect any other portal.
Staging vs Production:
- Staging (Preview Site): Automatically reflects your saved content. No publish action required.
- Live production site: Only reflects content after you complete a Publish action. Saving alone does not deploy to production.
To save your content settings:
- Review your configuration and preview to confirm all changes look correct.
- Click the Save button.
- A snackbar notification will appear confirming: "Settings saved successfully."
3. Troubleshooting
| Issue | Likely Cause | Resolution |
| Saved content is not appearing on the live portal | The Publishing step has not been completed; saving updates staging but does not deploy to production | Navigate to the Publishing flow and complete the publish steps to deploy your saved content to the live portal. |
| Upload is blocked when trying to add a new image | The five-image storage limit for uploaded images has been reached | Click the trash can icon next to an existing image to delete it, then attempt the upload again. |
| AI generation is blocked or counter shows 5/5 | The monthly AI generation limit of 5 has been reached | Generating a new image at the limit will automatically replace the oldest generated image. Alternatively, wait until the monthly counter resets. |
| An uploaded image is rejected with a file size error | The image file exceeds the 1MB maximum size limit | Compress or resize the image to bring it under 1MB before uploading. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, and WEBP. |
| The About Us URL field is showing an "Invalid URL" error | The URL entered does not start with https:// or is not in a valid URL format | Ensure the URL begins with https:// and is a complete, correctly formatted web address of no more than 255 characters. |
| A social media link is showing a validation error | The URL entered does not match the expected domain for that platform, does not start with https://, or exceeds 255 characters | Confirm you are entering the correct profile URL for the correct platform. Each URL must contain the platform's domain (e.g., linkedin.com for LinkedIn, x.com or twitter.com for X.com) and begin with https://. |
| The welcome message or headline field is not accepting more text | The character limit has been reached (120 for welcome message, 50 for headline) | Review and shorten your text to fit within the allowed character count. The field will display an error message indicating the limit has been reached. |
| The Site Banner is not appearing on the portal | The enable toggle may be unchecked, or the portal has not been saved after enabling the banner | Check that the enable toggle is checked and that you have clicked Save. Also verify that no browser session is caching a dismissed state — refresh the browser to reset the banner. |
| The Content Settings page is inaccessible | The portal may be in a Delete Pending or Deleted state | Check the portal's status in the portal management area. If the portal should not be in this state, contact your system administrator. |
